They keep the blades safe in your bag or backpack during transportation, soakerswith reinforced toes also protect the blades and items in the bag. In addition the reinforced toes prolong the life of your blade soakers. all skaters should own a pair of “soakers.” Soakers act to absorb moisture on your blades and prevent them from rusting. Rust on blades looks brown and flaky and will dull your skates and make them unsafe to use.
It is also recomended after you return from the rink to take you skates out of the bag remove the soakers and let both dry out in the open air.
