JIG BACKSTOP MAPLE Blade Stoper
The Jig Backstop is an original replacement metal part. Moreover it can also be used with other jigs on the market.
Ideally backstop works best if the jig already has pre-threaded holes.
A jig backstop is a critical component when sharpening skates because it provides a fixed, secure stopping point for the blade, ensuring the blade is positioned consistently throughout the sharpening process. It prevents the sharpening stone or machine from overrunning the toe or heel, which can ruin the skate’s profile and edge.
- Maintains Consistent Setup: A backstop ensures the blade sits at the exact same spot in the jig every time, allowing for even grinding across the entire length of the blade, from toe to heel.
- Protects the Blade Profile: Without a backstop to stop the forward motion, the stone can travel too far, rounding off the critical tips of the blade and ruining the specific profile (rocker) of the skate.
- Ensures Level Edges: The backstop acts as a consistent reference point to help keep the blade perfectly vertical in the jig, which is crucial for achieving even edges (so one edge isn’t higher than the other).
- Safety and Control: It allows you to feel exactly where the skate is in relation to the stone, providing better control and safety when applying manual pressure during the sharpening process.
When using a sharpening jig, you typically insert the blade and push the heel against the backstop before tightening the clamps to ensure the blade is secure, level, and properly positione
Ideal for those who purchased a used Jig with back stop missing or in need of replacing.
In Addition Backstop comes with the original mounting hardware.
Last but not least original Maple metal backstop for the Maple Pro and Asia red jig.
